On August 28, Sydney-based artist Sophie Cape won this year’s AUD 100,000 (USD 65,200) Hadley’s Art Prize, an award celebrating Australian landscape art.

On September 16, the Munch Museum selected Palestinian artist-activist Samia Halaby as the winner of its annual NOK 300,000 (USD 30,300) prize. In the same week, the biennial Gold Art Prize for Asian diasporic artists was granted to Morehshin Allahyari, Jacqueline Kiyomi Gork, Dan Lie, Kenneth Tam, and Stella Zhong, each of whom received USD 25,000.

On October 8, artists Gala Porras-Kim and Tuan Andrew Nguyen were among 22 individuals named as this year’s MacArthur Fellows. Each winner of the “genius grant” will receive USD 800,000 over five years, with no strings attached.
