Since February 28, US-Israeli strikes on Iran have escalated into one of the most consequential military confrontations in the Middle East in recent years. The sustained campaign, encompassing intense bombardments and retaliatory attacks across Iran, Lebanon, and the Gulf, has caused heavy casualties and crippled infrastructure.

Multiple world heritage sites have been damaged, including several UNESCO-listed landmarks. On March 2, a strike within the designated buffer zone of Tehran’s Qajar-era Golestan Palace damaged parts of the complex, while March 9 attacks on Isfahan’s provincial governorate building impacted the 17th-century Chehel Sotoun palace and the Naqsh-e Jahan Square. In Israel, Bauhaus architecture in Tel Aviv’s White City has sustained severe damage amid Iran’s counterattacks.
