On January 3, multimedia artist Lawrence Abu Hamdan won the 2022 Future Fields Commission in Time-Based Media, receiving a cash award of USD 125,000 for the production of a new work.

In recognition of Amanda Heng’s participatory walking performance Every Step Counts (2019), part of the 2019 Singapore Biennale, Japanese conglomerate Benesse Holdings, Inc. and Singapore Art Museum presented the artist with the 12th Benesse Prize, worth JPY 3 million (USD 27,000), on January 11.
