To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Design Miami is launching Design Miami. In Situ, a new initiative which includes a series of events around the world. The program kicks off at the end of July with a day-long event in Aspen followed by a two-week exhibition in September in Seoul.

The largest of Design Miami. In Situ’s projects, the exhibition in Seoul is titled “Illuminated: A Spotlight on Korean Design” and organized in partnership with the Seoul Design Foundation. Slated to run from September 1–14 at the Zaha Hadid-designed Dongdaemun Design Plaza, the exposition will feature a diverse selection of works by contemporary and historically influential Korean designers, surveying the figures who have and continue to shape the Korean collectible design landscape. Hyeyoung Cho, chairperson of the Korea Association of Art & Design, will curate the event.

Design Miami’s chief executive officer Jen Roberts said in a statement: “As we mark this incredible milestone year, we remain committed to our fair model while also expanding our platform to create new, meaningful ways to connect with the global design community.”

In an emailed statement to ARTnews, Roberts further described the exhibition venue in Seoul as “a major international landmark of architecture and culture” as well as “a symbol of Seoul’s fusion of transition and future.”

The third edition of Design Miami.Paris will run from October 22–26, while the 21st edition of Design Miami will take place at Miami Beach in December.
