Chris Wan Feng Joins Asia Society Hong Kong Center

Asia Society Hong Kong Center (ASHK) has appointed Chris Wan Feng as the nonprofit organization’s head of gallery and exhibitions, effective October 13.
Wan is an independent curator and art critic who has spent over a decade engaging with Hong Kong’s contemporary art scene, examining the intersections of modernity and locality through a research-based approach. His recent curatorial projects include Tang Kwong San and Yuen Nga Chi’s duo exhibition, “Floating World,” at the Guangdong Times Museum in Guangzhou, and Chow Chun Fai’s solo show “Interview the Interviewer II,” which was featured in the Insights sector of this year’s Art Basel Hong Kong. He also curated the Hong Kong Focus section at Abu Dhabi Art in 2023, where nine local galleries made their UAE debut.
Alongside his curatorial practice, Wan is also the founder of Daoju, a nonprofit Chinese-language art writing platform, and regularly contributes to publications such as Artforum, ArtReview, and Ocula.
Established in 1990, ASHK is an independent non-governmental educational organization dedicated to fostering cross-cultural collaborations in the fields of art, business, and policy throughout Asia and beyond. ASHK is one of Asia Society’s 16 institutions worldwide.
In a press release, ASHK president S. Alice Mong noted that Wan “brings a unique blend of structural insight and curatorial vision” that “will help elevate our exhibitions and introduce more groundbreaking programs.”
Wan expressed gratitude over his appointment, describing ASHK as “an institution deeply rooted in the vibrant arts and cultural landscape of Hong Kong and Asia.” He added, “I am eager to strengthen our networks and . . . [shape] ASHK into a distinctive lens through which to explore, illuminate, and celebrate the region’s rich and dynamic artistic identity.”
In his new role, Wan will helm the curatorial program at ASHK’s Chantal Miller Gallery, which stages several exhibitions annually.
