Istanbul entered the new year with the unexpected resignation of Christine Tohmé, curator of the 18th Istanbul Biennial, bringing the edition to an abrupt end. Originally conceived as a three-part project unfolding from 2025 to 2027, the biennial concluded after its widely attended first chapter held from September to November 2025, with the 19th edition now scheduled for 2027.
In India, Mumbai-based artist Bose Krishnamachari, cofounder of the Kochi Biennale Foundation which oversees the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, resigned as president citing “pressing family reasons” for his departure.
