Art & Bali 2025 to Debut a New Kind of Art Fair at Nuanu Creative City Next Week

In less than two weeks, Bali will welcome its first international art fair, as Art & Bali 2025 transforms Nuanu Creative City into a global stage for contemporary art. Running 12-14 September, with one day dedicated to VIP experiences, the inaugural edition brings together 17 galleries, 150 plus artists, over 50 programs, and landmark unveilings across three days of exhibitions, performances, talks, and the After Dark series.
“Art & Bali is an invitation to connect, collaborate and shape a growing art ecosystem in Bali. It’s about rethinking how art circulates here, building a fair rooted in Bali’s traditions of exchange while opening space for new relationships between artists, collectors and communities. The hope is that people leave feeling Bali has expanded what an art fair can feel like.” —Kelsang Dolma, Director, Art & Bali
“Nuanu was built as a home for ideas and creative energy. Art & Bali brings that vision to life, welcoming the world to experience Bali as a place where art and culture can inspire real change.” —Lev Kroll, CEO, Nuanu Creative City

The inaugural edition of Art & Bali brings together an international roster of exhibitors and artists from Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Spain. Staying true to its vision, the fair gives priority to Indonesian voices, with around 70% of participants coming from Bali and across the archipelago, and 30% from abroad. This first edition especially highlights Balinese and Indonesian galleries and collectives that are rarely given visibility at international fairs and festivals.
Participants include: Santrian Art Gallery, celebrated for its dialogue between Balinese tradition and bold contemporary practice; Bagia Art Space; Kotak: Art Collective; LAKU Art Space; Lucy Dream Art; N-CAS ISI BALI; Purga Artspace; RUANG//; Spacecraft Gallery; Superlative Gallery; Umah Seni Shibumi; Waworuntu Gallery; Asia Pacific Print Club, advancing printmaking across the region; Feb Gallery Tokyo, known for cross-cultural experimentation; CONNEC ART; Dalam Seniman; and Art Agenda.
At the heart of Art & Bali’s inaugural edition is Terra Nexus, a landmark exhibition curated by Switzerland-based Indonesian curator Mona Liem, a leading voice in new media. Featuring 30 artists from Indonesia and abroad, the exhibition explores the intersections of art, science, and environment through immersive media, VR environments, and experimental works.
“If there is one thing I hope visitors will feel after experiencing Terra Nexus, it is novelty,” said Mona Liem. “For many of these artists, this is their first encounter with new media. It’s a laboratory for experimentation and a chance to see how traditional contemporary practices evolve within digital space.”
Artists include Alodia Yap, Awang Behartawan, Budi Ubrux, Dadi Setiyadi, Dhanny "danot" Sanjaya, Dr. Justyna Gorowska, Goenawan Mohamad (GM), Heri Dono, Iroha Ozaki, Ivan Sagita, Jana Schafroth, MIVUBI, Mukhamad Aji Prasetyo, Nasirun, Notanlab, Nus Salomo, Popomangun, Rakhmi Fitriani (Lunang Lembayung), Roger Ng Wei Lun, Satya Cipta, Sekar Puti Sidhiawati, Tulola Jewelry (by Sri Luce-Rusna, Happy Salma and Franka Makarim), Utami A. Ishii, Valerio Vincenzo, Widi Pangestu, Wisnu Ajitama, and Yessiow, along with the J+ Art Awards Selected Participants: Geddi Jaddi Membummi, I Made Teler and Susur Galur Collective.

Running alongside the fair, three major unveilings will punctuate the Opening Program on 12 September, a day dedicated exclusively to VIP Pass holders. A monumental installation by Heri Dono, one of Indonesia’s most celebrated contemporary artists, will be presented in Bali for the first time, embodying the fair’s vision of global dialogue rooted in Indonesian creativity. The launch of the Art Collectors Pass, created with Nuanu Real Estate and gifted to all Nuanu homeowners, introduces a new pathway to collecting with $2,000 in art credit, personalized advisory, and VIP access to cultural events. And the unveiling of the second phase of the THK Tower, designed by Arthur Mamou-Mani in collaboration with Balinese artist Chiko and J+ Art Award Winner Geddi Jaddi Membummi, will mark the evolution of a cultural landmark inspired by the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana. Through a custom-built web application, visitors will now be able to contribute their own expressions to the work’s living form.
Over 50 special programs will animate Nuanu throughout Art & Bali, from talks and panels with regional and international voices to workshops and masterclasses in textiles, print, and creative practice. Each evening closes with sunset performances of light, sound, and movement, followed by after-dark concerts, DJ sets, and gatherings under the stars.
In keeping with its sustainability focus, Art & Bali is rethinking how art fairs are built. Instead of temporary walls destined for waste, the fair’s booths are made with galvanized steel cores and MDF panels designed for reuse in future editions. It’s a simple shift, but one that proves cultural events can carry both imagination and responsibility.
Like much of the fair, it’s about bridging dichotomies, tradition and innovation, spectacle and substance, local roots and global reach. That spirit makes Art & Bali a fair that feels like a festival, an evolving conversation grounded in Bali.
