ArtAsiaPacific magazine is proud to announce its collaboration with the emerging young Hong Kong artist Lee Kit at Art HK 09.
Lee Kit will exhibit four untitled hand-painted tablecloths that cover the tables at ArtAsiaPacific’s booth at Art HK 09. At first glance, the works look like minimalist paintings – some are painted in muted pastel colors in a checkered or striped pattern and others with English text. While serving as actual tablecloths during Art HK 09, the fabric will slowly “disappear” as the audience gradually participates in completing the works. The audience’s residual imprints – in the form of natural stains from cold drinks, food, dirt on one’s hands – will make up the final last “marks” of the work.
Lee Kit will also present a new series of photos entitled “How far can I run away from you within 2 seconds?” in poster format.
In both “How far can I run away from you within 2 seconds?” and the untitled tablecloth series, Lee Kit raises questions related to the transformation of a functional object to an art object, contemporary art and contemporary life, disappearance and absence.
